When it comes to pizza, it’s hard to beat the Windy City. But let’s face it, getting into the city isn’t always practical. Fortunately, the western suburbs offer their own slice of the action, proving that great pizza isn’t confined to the city limits. I’m Eric with Andersen Realty Group. Using Google reviews as my guide, I’ve ranked the best western suburbs for pizza, factoring in both average ratings and the number of reviews each place received. I came up with a weighted score to ensure that popular, well-reviewed spots earned recognition alongside smaller gems, so you get the best of both worlds. So, without further ado, here are my top five areas in the western suburbs, ranked by pizza.

5. La Grange & Countryside: Home of the Hidden Gems

With an average score of 4.18 across eight places, La Grange and Countryside blend charm and tradition in their pizza. Antonino’s Ristorante, for instance, feels like a cozy nook of Italy, complete with warm hospitality and classic Italian flavors. Lucca’s Pizzeria & Ristorante has built a loyal following with its perfectly balanced crusts and generous toppings, while Pisa Pizza’s laid-back vibe keeps locals coming back for more. For those who appreciate nostalgia, Ledo’s Pizza evokes fond memories with its approachable menu and reliable quality. From the casual to the refined, La Grange and Countryside’s pizza offers something for everyone. This was a tough one, but my top pick here is Pisa, with Antonino’s coming in a close second.

4. Elmhurst: A Balanced Pizza Scene

Elmhurst’s pizza comes in with an average score of 4.37 across 14 places, striking the perfect balance between tradition and creativity. Mangia Napoli transports diners to Italy with its authentic Neapolitan pizza, baked in traditional wood-fired ovens. Pazzi Di Pizza impresses with rustic charm and a commitment to artisan flavors, while Ella’s Italian Pub combines upscale dining with approachable comfort, making it ideal for both celebrations and casual evenings out. Gia Mia Elmhurst’s sleek modern vibe brings a fresh twist to Italian classics, and Krafted Burger Bar + Tap surprises with pizza that is every bit as good as their burgers. While Gia Mia serves up unbeatable quality with their AVPN certified pizza, I have to give some respect to a menu that includes both burgers and pizza, and Krafted does just that.

3. Naperville: The Crown Jewel of Consistency

Naperville’s pizza boasts a 4.43 average across 18 places, showcasing both quality and diversity. Little Pops NY Pizzeria To Go channels the vibrant energy of New York with its thin, crispy crusts and bold, authentic flavors. Old Town Pizza of Naperville offers a cozy, small-town charm that complements their gorgeous pies, creating a warm, inviting experience. Traverso’s blends tradition with innovation, offering timeless Italian recipes with modern flair, while Gia Mia Naperville’s signature style elevates pizza with fresh, thoughtful ingredients. I know I mentioned Gia Mia in Elmhurst, but with pizza this good, it’s worth repeating. Fiamme’s wood-fired creations complete the lineup with their artisanal touch, ensuring there’s something for everyone. My top picks in Naperville are Little Pops if you’re in the mood for some New York style pizza, and Traverso’s if you’re looking for some classic Chicago tavern thin crust pizza.

2. Hinsdale & Clarendon Hills: Where Quality Reigns Supreme

With a remarkable 4.66 average across five places, Hinsdale and Clarendon Hills definitely put quality over quantity. Altamura Pizza captivates diners with its masterfully crafted crusts and premium toppings. Brama La Pizza offers slices for those in a hurry, or you can order from a broad menu of appetizers and sides. Giuliano’s Pizza delights with its intimate setting and hand-tossed pizza that make every visit feel personal. Fuller House reminds me of Krafted in Elmhurst, which I think of more as a burger place, but you don’t want to miss their pizza. If you’re looking for upscale, Il Poggiolo Ristorante offers a refined take on pizza that’s as elegant as it is satisfying. Hinsdale and Clarendon Hills prove that even small towns can deliver big flavor. My top choice here goes to Brama La Pizza.

1. Downers Grove & Westmont: The Pizza Powerhouses

Downers Grove and Westmont take the crown with a 4.5 average across a staggering 20 places. For me, Downers and Westmont offer the greatest variety of options at a consistently high quality. Lantern Pizza Co. stands out as the rookie of the year, offering high-quality Neapolitian pizza. Dan’s Pizza is a local favorite, offering some of the most consistently good and balanced pizza you’ll find anywhere. Most places will occasionally serve up a pizza that’s overcooked, undercooked, or one that’s has too much cheese or too little sauce. I’ve never had that problem at Dan’s. Angelo’s Pizza Downers Grove balances tradition with consistency, offering tavern-style pizza that feels like a warm embrace. Kim’s Uncle Pizza is definitely worth the several hour wait I’ve always experienced when ordering from there, while L & F Pizza’s unassuming exterior hides a treasure trove of flavor, making it a hidden gem worth seeking out. With unparalleled variety and quality, Downers Grove and Westmont firmly cement themselves, in my mind, at least, as the western suburbs’ pizza champions, with Dan’s reigning supreme.
