Did you know the decision of what day of the week to put your home on the market could be worth thousands of dollars? The calendar can be a seller’s best friend or your worst enemy. One day of the week stands out as the clear winner, but another stands out as being absolutely the worst day to list. 

I’m Eric, owner and broker at Eric Andersen Homes. According to data compiled by The National Association of Realtors, the best day to list is Friday. Sellers who activate their listings on Friday get a higher percentage of asking price than on any other day of the week. They also sell the fastest and get four times the showing traffic. This may come as no surprise, since buyers tend to have more time to look at homes over the weekend. It’s also why open houses are often on Saturday or Sunday. 

As you might expect, then, Sunday is the worst day to list, with the weekend winding down and buyers shifting their attention from the housing market back to work. Homes listed on Sunday get less interest and a lower percent of asking price than homes listed on any other day of the week. When to list your home is a simple enough question, but the answer could be worth thousands of dollars.
