If you’re thinking about moving to the suburbs of Chicago, whether you’re moving from the city or relocating from out of state, Burr Ridge is an outstanding choice. I’m Eric with Eric Andersen Homes, and located along I-55 and County Line Road, you can find portions of Burr Ridge in both eastern DuPage and western Cook Counties. County Line Road makes it easy to know which part of Burr Ridge you’re in, since County Line Road divides DuPage County from Cook County and runs north and south through the heart of Burr Ridge. Everything west of County Line Road in Burr Ridge is DuPage County, and everything east of it is Cook County.
OK, so now that we have a handle on where Burr Ridge is, let’s talk about its proximity to the city and accessibility. If you’re like many of my clients, you may be a physician looking for a great suburb with an easy commute to the city. The typical commute from Burr Ridge to the University of Chicago Medical Center ranges from 30-45 minutes in normal traffic, but that commute can take over an hour in rush hour. If you’re not from Chicago, you’ll learn quickly that rush hour can change things in a hurry, as in hurry up and wait.
Burr Ridge is a wonderfully accessible location, with close proximity to I-55, I-294, and Route 83. There are some great communities neighboring Burr Ridge, including Lemont, Darien, Woodridge, Downers Grove, Hinsdale, and Oak Brook. Downtown Naperville is only about a 30 minute drive, and you can get to the Bolingbrook Promenade in about 15 minutes. So whether you’d like to go west toward Naperville or east into the city, Burr Ridge makes it easy for you.
Aside from being a highly accessible and great commuter location, Burr Ridge offers amenities galore. The Burr Ridge Village Center, just off I-55 and County Line Road, is home to over 30 shops, restaurants, and even residential condominiums. Some highlights of the Village Center include Brookhaven Marketplace, Kirsten’s Danish Bakery, Bel Canto Music Academy, Fred Astaire Dance Studios, Stix & Stones Wood-Fired Pizza, Barbara’s Bookstore, The Hampton Social, Capri (their Chicken Limone is to die for), Cooper’s Hawk, Starbucks, Eddie Bauer, and more. If you’re an early riser and into exercise, you can often find me at the 5:30am group fitness classes at Life Time Athletic in Burr Ridge, one of my favorite places in the whole world.
Burr Ridge offers a number of options for school, both public and private. Niche has ranked Hinsdale South one of the top 6 school districts in entire state with an A+ grade, and Gower Elementary and Middle School are also top schools in the area, earning A ratings from Niche.
As for housing, Burr Ridge offers single family homes, condos, and townhomes. Property values have been very solid, increasing 21.6% over the past 10 years, making Burr Ridge a great investment as far as real estate is concerned. It also offers significant value by comparison to nearby Hinsdale, where the median sale price of homes is over $230,000 more than it is in Burr Ridge.
So if you’re looking for a commuter-friendly suburb with great homes, a nice community, and lots of amenities, Burr Ridge is hard to beat. If you’re thinking of making a move to Burr Ridge, contact me today. Or, if you already live in Burr Ridge and are looking for a local market expert to help with your sale, I have a number of buyers looking in the area who may be a good fit for your home. I’m Eric with Eric Andersen Homes here to remove the headache from real estate and provide expert guidance for your next purchase or sale.
