Did you know you don’t need a real estate agent to sell your home? It’s true! There are some companies out there who will buy your home (often with fees larger than an agent’s commission), or you could go the for sale by owner route and DIY your biggest investment. Hi, I’m Eric with Eric Andersen Homes, and even if you manage to navigate the legal complexities of selling a home and avoid making any terrible mistakes, owners who sell their own homes get, on average, 12% less than agent-sold homes. So not only will I sell your home for enough to pay for my commission, in most cases, I’ll double it. So if you pay $10,000 in commission but get $20,000 more by using an agent, you still come out $10,000 ahead. And it’s not like you pay me anything out of pocket. Commissions are paid out of the proceeds of your sale, and only when the sale closes.
